belted galloways and border leicesters
human-scale, regenerative and agroecological farming
We are farmers who learn from the past and listen to what scientists know about the future. We work with nature to nurture our animals and the living biodiversity of our soil. We try new things and share the knowledge we gather and the food we grow with our community.
Our cattle are bred with genetics from Australia’s finest belted galloway studs and a heritage originating in the cold, harsh hills of southwestern Scotland. They thrive in our freezing winters up high in the Macedon Ranges and are conservation foragers, thoroughly and evenly grazing a variety of plants, including native grasses. Our animals drink crystal-clear spring water and are 100% grass fed and grass finished. Belties are a pleasure to look after: gentle, curious, good at calving and excellent mothers. They grow slowly into medium-sized, solidly built adult animals, producing beautiful beef full of flavour. We sell our beef direct to customers via a monthly box program within Victoria.

border leicester sheep
Our border leicester stud is quite new, established in May 2022 with the purchase of ewes from the dispersal of the Tenalba stud at Canowindra, NSW. We have since added to our flock with top genetics from Jackson, Womboota and Pastoria studs. We will offer a small number of regeneratively raised, grass-fed, paddock-fit stud, brucellosis-free rams with full ASBVs for private sale from November 2024. Please get in touch.

“I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”
